DIY Hanging Ghosts
Halloween is more fun when you have kids. I have one in particular that LOVES the holiday. Of course for the candy, but also the spookiness or least the idea of it.
It’s quite the paradox; she’s sweet as candy, sunshine and joy, and funny for days but then her favorite character in every movie is the villain. Huh. But don’t scare her. She freaks out and will have dreams, ok nightmares, for days.
So I decorate. For her. Of course, we’ve always carved pumpkins and put out a few decorations, but we’ve upped our game recently.
We needed something for the yard this year and I’m crazy over these ghosts.
Inspired by my girl and my need to do something crafty. Hope you get to make these, they’re the sweetest addition to your yard this season.
How to DIY Hanging Ghosts:
Project Supplies:
Paper lanterns
White plastic tablecloths, round
Sharpie
Ribbon or fishing line
BONUS: remote control lights
Notes on supplies:
I got my paper lanterns at Hobby Lobby and they came in a pack with 3, different sizes, for $4. I like the size variation.
White plastic tablecloths, round are perfect! Can’t find them? Just get what the store has and you can trim the bottom once they’re hung, or not!
Use a Sharpie to draw the eyes and mouth.
Ribbon to attach the light, if you’re adding them, will work just fine. Fishing line to hang them so they appear to be floating. Use what you have, it’ll look great!
Make the Ghosts:

Find the middle of your plastic table cloth. Using the Sharpie, draw your ghost’s eyes and mouth. Feel free to get creative! I might do a Charlie Brown ghost next time.
Assemble your paper lanterns. Tie your lights inside using string, ribbon or fishing line.
TIP: Be sure those lights are working. Replace batteries before hanging them up.
Fit your ghost (plastic tablecloth) over your paper lantern. You’ll have to cut a small hole at the top to fit your fishing line through the paper lantern frame.
Hang them up!
I can’t wait to see your yard ghosts! Will you tag me? I love to see your creations.
Happy Halloween!
